Deep in the Closet

Welcome to Deep in the Closet. This is a journey into the annals of time, space, and basically the back, the bottom and top of my closet. Hopefully, this will inspire others to reach in the back of their closets and get creative.  I keep up with the latest trends and I also keep favorite trends. A good look is a good look. The first installment of Deep in the Closet will be the Laundry Voyages.  Talk about a clean, fresh start. I have old clothes that I'd set aside for the laundry just to perk them up a bit since they hadn't been worn in awhile. Honestly, I still have a few things that I wore in high school - 16 years ago. So, it's going to interesting to see if that stuff truly stands the test of time as I suspected it would.

Cinderella Project Louisiana

It is prom season again and The Cinderella Project will be having their 2013 Dress Giveaway on Saturday March 9, 2013 from 8:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Louisiana State Police Headquarters Cafeteria.  Aside from a wedding, prom is an event that many girls dream about from the time that they are in kindergarten (especially, if they saw  the movie Grease like I did). Beautiful dresses made of gorgeous fabrics in brilliant colors are a feast for the eyes. Yet, owning of those decadent designs can become quite expensive. This is where The Cinderella Project steps into the picture with one of many beautiful acts of kindness - giving away prom dresses to young ladies who cannot afford one.  Since it's 2008 founding, this volunteer organization's mission has been to empower young ladies to become strong, intelligent individuals and responsible citizens.   This act of kindness has the power to teach young women the fundamentals of community service, good stewardship, and caring for others.
High school students in financial need are eligible to receive one of these gowns. According to The Cinderella Project Of Baton Rouge's Facebook page, the young ladies simply need to bring:
  • A High school I.D.
  • A current Report Card or letter from a teacher, counselor or principal that confirms enrollment in a Louisiana High School
  • A female parent, guardian or relative over the age of 18 with you to help you shop
Further, The Cinderella Project States that "check-in will begin at 8 a.m. on a first come, first serve basis and the doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and you will be paired with a volunteer personal shopper to help guide you through the inventory." In addition to Baton Rouge, the Cinderella Project serves Lafayette, Monroe  and Shreveport. For more information about the Cinderella Project, visit The Cinderella Project.
